Connecticut Valley Candlestand with Drawer

The scalloped top candlestand shown below was constructed from solid cherry.  The top is approximately 18"  x 18" and stands 25" in height.  The edges of the top feature a scalloped pattern typical of a number of Connecticut pieces, some of which are associated with the Chapin family workshop.  The top on this table is made from a single wide board and the edges of the scalloped top are shaped by hand to a graceful curve.  The candlestand features a double ended drawer which can be pulled out from either end (typically for storing candles).  This piece is finished with hand rubbed boiled linseed oil and varnish.
